Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for a highly-motivated digital marketing specialist with a proven track record of developing successful offline marketing campaigns to grow awareness of Washington Post subscription products. The specialist will be responsible for scaling campaigns, maintaining targeted ad spend per day while hitting CPA targets across Google Ads (YouTube), CTV/OTT, and other programmatic video placements. The role requires a strong understanding of video advertising platforms and their paid/organic capabilities; the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities; strong attention to detail and the flexibility and creativity to work with a fast-paced, collaborative team.

The right candidate will be working closely with many roles within the company, reporting directly to the Head of Paid Growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and manage marketing campaigns for Washington Post subscriptions
  • Create and oversee marketing campaigns across video channels to increase awareness and drive traffic to product page
  • Measure results of A/B testing for both creatives and campaign targeting to optimize for downstream conversions.
  • Prepare and deliver campaign performance reports to internal stakeholders, including but not limited to senior leadership and the sales team.
  • Maintain active relationships with account representatives to make strategic adjustments to advertising strategies and campaigns.


Requirements include:
  • 1-3 years experience working with video ad trafficking or CTV/OTT media buying
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight
  • Proven track record of building successful marketing campaigns across print, digital and social platforms
  • A strong understanding of programmatic buying (DSP) and audience segmentation (DMP)
  • The ability to work collaboratively, prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • A passion for and understanding of news, the Washington Post brand, our readers and potential subscribers.


Additional Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing or a related discipline
  • Direct response experience preferred
  • Have a working knowledge of traditional linear and advanced TV buying strategies
  • Strong media, marketing, agency, client management or project management background (3+ years)
  • Strong writing, copyediting and research ability
  • Advanced skill level of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint, social media ad managers
  • Experience working with demand-side ad platforms like MediaMath and The TradeDesk.
