Dewberry is seeking a versatile, motivated Financial Data Analyst to join our Financial Services Group at our headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia.

Dewberry is expanding its data analytics team and seeks a data literate candidate with a strong grasp of digital business fundamentals and strategy. This is a high visibility, high impact role where the candidate will interact with senior leadership on a regular basis. The core responsibilities will be to work with key stakeholders within Finance and across the organization to lead automation efforts, promote a data-driven culture change through the introduction of self-service BI dashboards, and promulgate data democratization through insightful analysis and value adding reporting. Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc) considering company's goals and financial standing
  • Create and implement Power BI reports for business cases and internal financial reporting
  • Assist in the implementation of accounting automation initiatives
  • Encourage digital learning and development through research and documentation of novel, value-adding tools; translate and communicate said findings into actionable steps for potential implementation
  • Develop paginated financial reports with Power BI Report Builder
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes
  • Perform financial analysis, benchmarking, data mining and forecasting using various analytics tools such as Power Query Editor and Power Pivot
  • Analyze trends of key indicators related to financial and operational metrics, identify root causes of variations, and recommend actions to finance leaders
  • Assist in the redesign and mapping of accounting, financial and operational business processes
  • Test self-service financial reports for quality assurance purposes
  • Analyze the opportunity for implementing technology solutions by quantifying potential savings and value addition
  • Participate in the development, modification, and review of accounting systems, reporting methods, and controls
  • Monitor mechanisms to enhance and data fidelity and high-performance self-service reporting
  • Review, reconcile and interpret data sets to ensure integrity and accuracy
  • Support corporate strategic financial goals as needed


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with handling large amounts of data and the ability to normalize said data
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting finance/operations function
  • Strong competency in Power BI/Tableau to visualize data in a concise, insightful manner
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience organizing projects utilizing Teams and Planner would be a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills and be able to self-monitor
  • Experience with process mapping using tools such as Visio
  • Strong work ethic, modular process oriented, reliable, with ability to work both independently and in a team while delivering quality results
  • Adaptability to quick evolving environments and a propensity to comfortably manage multiple requests at once
  • Experience with Government Contracting would be a plus
  • Experience with SQL would be a plus
