Human Resources SpecialistThe George Mason University College of Health and Human Services is launching a search for a Human Resources (HR) Specialist to support the Office of the Dean. Through reciprocal partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, international partners, private not-for-profit organizations, and businesses, CHHS is able to provide clinical internships, community placements, and community and global capstone experiences. The College offers five undergraduate degrees, 12 graduate degrees (including four doctoral degrees), and six graduate certificates through the School of Nursing and the Departments of Global and Community Health, Health Administration and Policy, Nutrition and Food Studies, Rehabilitation Science (closing), and Social Work.About the Position:Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and Administration for the College, the incumbent will support all recruitment related to faculty and staff hires. The candidate will work closely with the Office of Faculty and Staff Affairs and will be responsible for on-boarding and off-boarding;Serves as the primary HR point of contact for the department;The incumbent will attend HR Liaison meetings, and will be responsible for communicating updates or changes to Mason's HR policies and procedures to the rest of the college;The incumbent will complete and submit paperwork to Central HR/Office of Budget to obtain position numbers to assign to recruitments and ensure proofing, editing of job announcements;Tracks due dates for research faculty reappointments, and confirms with Executive Director of Finance and Administration 90 days out from contract end date if contract should be reappointed;Processes and tracks all H-1B and J-1 requests for all international faculty hires;Approves all manual non-benefitted assignment submissions funded by state funds in system;Coordinates, collects, and reviews for correctness, each adjunct and graduate assistantship upload project each semester before submitting to Human Resources;The incumbent will supervise the Human Resources Assistant to ensure all assignments are completed in a timely manner; andServes as a Talent Equity Advisor (TEA) for recruits.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a field related to human resources or equivalent combination of education and experience;General knowledge and experience working with HR principles;Proficient with writing, editing, and proof-reading various literary content;Proficient at using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;Demonstrated descriptive data analysis and reporting skills;The ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks;Self-motivated and collaborative mindset;Demonstrated organization, customer-service, and collaboration skills; andAbility to work with confidential information and salary data.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a large public institution of higher education;Experience using relational databases (e.g., Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar) and knowledge of database principles;Experience documenting HR procedures;Experience working with data analysis tools such as Microstrategy; andExperience in working in a diverse office setting is desirable.
