Performance Measurement & Business Analysis (PMBA) is responsible for aligning enterprise-wide metrics, analysis, reporting and performance measurement tools to drive AARP's strategic and operating performance. PMBA includes a Business Optimization team that provides consulting and advisory services to projects and initiatives where there is an enterprise-wide impact, unknown root cause and/or complex stakeholder interactions.

The Business Optimization Director leverages organizational savviness and functional expertise, in areas such as operations, process improvement, strategy, and organizational design, to provide an unbiased perspective on complex business problems. As the Director, you will diagnose obstacles that represent barriers to the effective execution of the organization's strategy and partner with senior-level leaders to define business objectives and cultivate operational excellence. This positon identifies areas of strategic misalignment and proposes relevant solutions, while directing consulting resources to improve on various aspects of project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Leads large & complex cross-functional organizational initiatives focused on improving performance
  • Probes for, and points to, subtle and unclear relationships in highly complex matters and evaluates the merit of problem definitions and potential solutions
  • Manages, oversees, and advises a portfolio of concurrent strategic consulting projects
  • Facilitates the development of client strategic plans and operating models
  • Scopes, proposes, and initiates plans to address organizational opportunities
  • Develops and maintains executive client relationships
  • Develops and maintains internal consulting team operating model, frameworks, and norms
  • Provides indirect management (guiding, motivating, coaching and developing) of team members to ensure a continuously improving consulting skillset and high-quality client deliverables

Qualifications

  • MBA highly preferred; BA/BS + 8+ years of relevant experience in a similar function required.
  • At least five years of management consulting experience or experience working in a client-focused, consulting role strongly preferred.
  • Strong managerial, leadership, analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed project teams toward common goals and strategic objectives
  • Ability to confidently engage with executive (CEO/COO) and senior management, building trust and credibility
  • Must be able to work effectively in an environment of change and ambiguity with sound judgment under pressure.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Remains on the forefront of emerging business practices.
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt, or other professional certification preferred.
  • PMP or extensive project management experience desired.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
