Director, Performance Management and Employee EngagementGeorge Mason University's Human Resources & Payroll department HR Strategy and Talent Management Team - seeks a Director, Performance Management and Employee Engagement, who will lead, develop, and implement policies, programs and practices that supports the building and sustaining of a culture of positive performance management, employee development, growth, and engagement, and organizational effectiveness as relates to succession planning.In addition to a first class culture at Virginia's largest public university, this position offers:Potential for flexible telework and hybrid telework scheduling;Competitive salary; andOutstanding benefits including:Health & life insurance, multiple industry leading retirement plans available including state VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan, accrued paid days off per year, paid holidays, paid winter break, paid sick leave, professional development, tuition reimbursement at GMU, and employee assistance programs.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position: Performance Management & Employee EngagementIn partnership with the Employee Relations team, design, develop, and deploy a performance management strategy that drives a culture of engagement and accountability;Lead the ongoing assessment, development, and the university's performance management strategy, which will also include employee engagement and, in collaboration with the Organizational Development and Learning Team, organizational effectiveness;Partner with leadership to drive long-term performance strategy initiatives;Provide subject matter expertise and consultation in the areas of performance management, employee engagement, change management, and organizational effectiveness;Develop and deliver performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement programs that align with the university's strategic goals and initiatives;Partner with university and HR leadership, and Mason stakeholders, to deliver initiatives that engage faculty and staff and drive culture change;Lead the Faculty/Staff Experience Committee and execution of the employee engagement survey team; monitor and assess employee survey data, periodically administer pulse surveys, partner with ODL team to develop and deliver programs to increase targeted engagement scores/result and increase organizational effectiveness through engagement survey action planning;Lead the coordination of succession planning efforts in conjunction with Human Resources, department managers and key business partners to identify key roles/jobs, talent pools, succession needs, and current incumbents in key positions; andOversight of reward and recognition program efforts and budget.Leading Change InitiativesEstablish and lead university-wide strategic partnerships to lead a performance management and employee engagement change management initiatives that drive scalable solutions;Partner with internal HR communication team to develop and deliver clear and concise communication to key stakeholders related to the performance management processes;Design and facilitate learning sessions for faculty and staff pertinent to the performance process and key phases and steps within it;Analyze data to identify trends, provide insights, and make recommendations to stakeholders and cross-functional partners to develop scalable solutions, programs, and policies to improve the employee experience as part of engagement objectives; andReview and revise university policies as needed.Program Oversight and LeadershipOversee project management of performance systems, including task deployment, troubleshooting, and vendor management;Develop plans and strategies, set standards, and identify performance management outcomes; andPartner with HR Data and Metrics analyst for reporting and metric needs.Management/Supervisory DutiesLead a team focused on creation, support, and facilitation of performance management and engagement programs and initiatives at Mason.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Significant (generally 5+ years) experience serving in a strategic human capital role with expertise in Performance Management and succession planning;Significant (generally 5+ years) recent performance experience required; be highly skilled with the analysis and implementation of performance management programs;Significant experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PPT) with comprehensive experience in the design of complex PowerPoint presentations;Must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities;Demonstrated writing skills with specific attention to detail and demonstrated experience drafting polished and professional policies, procedures and communication;Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical, research and demonstrated customer service skills; andFlexibility with the approach to delivering of work.
