Job Description
The Accountant reports to the Accounting Director and performs a variety of duties and accounting tasks to support the Financial Services Department and the school division. This position reviews and analyzes general ledger activities and accounting processes; assists with the agency's annual budget preparation; supports the annual financial audit; develops and distributes internal financial reports. The Accountant also maintains reporting schedules for assigned grant programs ensuring that reimbursement requests and activity reports are completed in accordance with sponsor requirements and are properly reported.

Qualifications
Required:
- Applicant must have a degree in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- Excellent Excel and Database technical skills, including advanced automated analytical fucntions.
- Must be independent, self-driven and a meticulous self-starter with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to adapt and work effectively with schools and functional teams across the organization.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Attentive to detail.
Essential Functions
The Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties associated with the
day-to-day operation of the Agency's fiscal accounting operations for selected grants programs as follows:
GENERAL LEDGER / FINANCIAL REPORTING - GRANT PROGRAMS
- Prepare GL journal entries/adjustments and maintain accounting records;
- Monitor and maintain grant-related general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts; analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, inter-fund accounts, prepaid items and receivables.
- Review and analyze grant-related revenues and expenditures to ensure proper recordation and reporting.
- Monitor grant financial activity in accordance with grant sponsor requirements and prepare and reimbursement requests to sponsors;
- Maintain grant reporting schedules to track grant activity and status and ensure grant balances are properly reported;
- Prepare grant budget to actual status reports for review and distribution to grant program managers.
- Coordinate and assist in internal and external CPA audits by preparing supporting schedules and addressing auditor requests/inquiries.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS and OTHER ITEMS
- Perform analytics on large datasets using advanced Excel and database techniques and functions;
- Generate datasets for uploading into ERP financial system;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Director and Chief Financial Officer.
Clearances:
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance
- Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
- Must follow safety and health protocols.
