Part Time Psychiatric Provider (Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)George Mason University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) invites applications for a Part-Time Psychiatric Provider (Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner). About the Position:The successful candidate for this part-time position will have an understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on mental health. This will be combined with a comprehensive understanding of intersectionality and the lived experiences of diverse students.This is an hourly wage, non-benefited position; hourly rate will depend upon level of training and experience. Consideration will be given to either a part-time Psychiatrist or a part-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Our center is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, and we are looking for a part-time psychiatric provider who can work up to 16 hours per week, with a preference given for Fridays.Responsibilities:Under the administrative supervision of the Assistant Director, Psychiatric Services, the clinician will:1. Provide safe and effective psychiatric evaluations, follow-up, case management, and crisis intervention to Mason students;2. Use evidence-based standards to deliver patient care that is in accordance with board of medicine or nurse practitioner licensure regulations for the Commonwealth of Virginia;3. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team;4. Exhibit respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and use an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes;5. Provide consultation to CAPS staff for routine and complex clinical cases;6. Provide consultation as needed to parents, faculty, staff, and students;7. Teach/supervise trainees as needed from a variety of mental health disciplines;8. Participate in continuing medical education activities to maintain licensure;9. Complete documentation of services within CAPS guidelines; and10. Participate in meetings or committees as assigned related to position responsibilities.Required Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited psychiatry residency or nurse practitioner program;ABPN Certification or eligible within 4 months of hire or ANCC Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP);Current, unrestricted medical license as a physician or current, unrestricted autonomous license to practice as a PMHNP in the Commonwealth of Virginia;Current, unrestricted DEA license;Experience working with young adults in an outpatient mental health setting;Excellent organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting with patients in acute distress;Evidence of multicultural awareness and experience working with diverse populations; andProficient use of technology for telehealth and medical recordkeeping.Preferred Qualifications:At least one year of clinical experience as an ABPN certified psychiatrist or at least two years of clinical experience as a PMHNP;At least one year of clinical experience providing mental health services in a university setting; andExperience with clinical supervision or preceptorship of graduate students.
