Green Studio Maintenance StaffGeorge Mason University's College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks qualified candidates for a Green Studio Maintenance Staff. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Maintain Green Studio Garden (a site of Mason Exhibitions)Perform routine maintenance of Green Studio spaces, adjacent to Mason's Art & Design Building;Develop approved garden planting and maintenance plans and procedures, working in collaboration with Doni Nolan, Manager of Mason's Greenhouse and Gardens Program and Mark Cooley, Director of the Green Studio;Train and oversee student volunteers assisting with routine garden plans and maintenance; andReport to Don Russell, Director of Mason Exhibitions and University Curator.Required Qualifications:Knowledgeable about organic gardening & sustainability;Self-starter - comfortable working on their own;Team player - interested in collaborating with others;Leadership skills - managing volunteers;Effective communicator, verbal and in writing;Positive spokesperson representing Green Studio and Mason Exhibitions;Well-informed about the relationship of creative art practices to environmental sustainability; andCapacity to work with environmentally oriented faculty and artists using the Green Studio space for art projects, as determined by Mason Exhibitions.
