Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.

The PeopleSoft HR Technology Manager will need to balance standard design practices and methodologies to implement business requirements with rapid solution delivery. This role requires a thought leader to provide high-level technical & HR business experience to support and improve AARP's implementation of Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM). This position also serves as an escalation point for reported recurrent issues or known system issues from internal and external customers, providing advice on remediation through architecture, plug-ins, extensions, upgrades, etc. The individual needs advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft Enterprise architecture and the HCM.


  • Lead the design of PeopleSoft HCM business capability solutions, including functionality within Security, Workforce Administration, ESS, MSS, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration and accompanying integrations/interfaces.
  • Work closely with the PeopleSoft platform team, application support vendors, business stakeholders and functional users to identify critical business, end-user requirements and potential issues.
  • Identify PeopleSoft technology improvements and drives best-practice solutions including recommendations, troubleshooting, testing, implementation and rollout.
  • Perform system setup, analyze configuration and utilization, create data load templates.
  • Develop test plans, test scenarios, manage and conduct system testing with appropriate parties.
  • Manage and own internal and external PeopleSoft HCM integrations including identifying interface requirements and implementation in partnership with business owners, external vendors and PS application support vendors.
  • Provide client support for HR systems, including problem resolution, documentation, reporting and business policy and procedure support.
  • Provide documentation or end-user training to ensure the effective utilization of HR systems. Assists with rollout and communication related to new systems and initiatives.


  • 10+ years leading PeopleSoft HR applications including Security, Workforce Administration, ESS, MSS, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration and accompanying integrations/interfaces.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field or commensurate experience.
  • Basic knowledge of HRIS systems to include relational databases, standard fields, data structures and definitions, edit and validation capabilities, establishment of business rules and defining data relationships, data feeds and interfaces, and extracts and data collection methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop internal and external working relationships and to foster cooperation and support from others, with well-defined skills of persuasion.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and alternative approaches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak and convey information clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to function effectively on teams and cross-divisional groups. Ability to facilitate group problem- solving activities and to provide leadership and guidance to project teams assigned to a variety of tasks.

  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
