Marketing and Communications ManagerThe George Mason University, Student Centers invites applications for the position of Marketing and Communications Manager. About the Position:The Marketing and Communications Manager for Student Centers at George Mason University is a classified staff position responsible for the coordination, creation, and management of all marketing, communication, web content, and social media engagement for Student Centers.The Manager will be responsible for collaborating with the Associate Director to design an implementation plan for the newly formed Student Center Foundation account. The Manager will work, in conjunction with the Associate Director and Office Manager, to attract alumni and external corporate partner donors.The Manager will be in a public relations role, working to promote Student Centers facilities, programs, services, and resources available to the campus community and general public using various social media, print advertising, website communications, and personal appearances at special events. Participation and representation in various campus events, committees, and working groups are essential. The Manager will create newsletters to share with all tenants and university stakeholders regarding facility updates and service offerings.Responsibilities:WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENTThis position will help capitalize and produce online media elements used to enhance online student services, education, training, and development within Student Centers. They will guide unit staff to new possibilities for utilizing online capabilities, and ensure content is current and engaging while being designed in a way that matches the Student Centers identity.GRAPHIC DESIGNThis position will support efforts in branding the department and setting standards for the Student Centers' identity. The Marketing and Communications Manager will conceptualize, design, and produce electronic and print publications, give away promotional items, social media, and other forms of advertisements. Projects include but are not limited to generating graphics and videos for social media, signage, website, and promotions for programs organized by the Student Centers Foundation, Corner Pocket, and Event Services.SOCIAL MEDIAThe Marketing and Communications Team will use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other forms used by our students, faculty, and staff to find creative ways to promote all Student Centers services, programs, resources, facilities, and other timely information.TENANT/UNIVERSITY RELATIONSKeep tenants located with Student Centers facilities along with university stakeholders informed of ongoing projects, policies and procedures changes, and service updates.FOUNDATIONCollaborate with the Associate Director to create a print and online marketing campaign to promote the foundation, attract donors, and assess the performance of the annual giving initiatives. This position is responsible for learning and adhering to campus policies, local and commonwealth laws for donor engagement and fundraising.TRAININGCollaborate with the Associate Director and Student Centers Supervisors to develop content for the Student Centers Online Training Portal utilizing Microsoft Team to input content for both student employees and professional staff to continue their onboarding process and further develop their skills.PUBLIC RELATIONSServe as the Student Centers representative at various events, including but not limited to:shopMason Kiosk DaysStudent Centers Kiosk DaysAdmissions Open HouseOrientation Green & Gold ShowcasesCareer FairsWelcome 2 Mason EventsSUPERVISIONSupervise the Marketing and Communications student employee team which is made up of a Web Developer and PR Assistant, Graphic Designer, Photography and Videography Assistant, and Data and Assessment Assistant.Required Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree requirement;Experience in higher education assessment practices and key performance indicator tracking and reporting;Impeccable communication (written and verbal) skills;Analytical and organizational skills-with attention to detail and ability to set and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects at one time-are essential skill sets;Knowledge and experience working in Adobe Creative Suite, Word Press, Photoshop and Acrobat; PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS and JavaScript; as well as the principles and techniques of Web design, layout and typography, and Web site management;Thorough working knowledge of MS Windows, Linux, and Macintosh OS (P); and in Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers;Demonstrated experience supervising student wage and part-time wage experience preferred;Must be able to continuously expand one's knowledge about technology and methods supportive of Student Center management processes; andIntermediate level experience of web development work, graphic design, social media management, content writing, some of which includes working closely with non-technical clients.
