Senior Admissions CounselorThe George Mason University, Graduate Office of Admissions and Recruitment in the School of Business, invites applications for the position of Senior Admissions Counselor. This is a full-time classified staff position with benefits.This position could potentially be set up with a hybrid work schedule (a few days in the office with the remaining days teleworking), or a primarily remote work schedule (with drop-in days scheduled as needed at both the Arlington and Fairfax campuses).George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Senior Admissions Counselor has responsibilities in the following areas:Recruitment and Yield:Provide service support to prospective candidates for School of Business programs;Serve as the main point of contact for applicants assigned to Master's programs, this includes making prompt and effective contact with applicants, utilizing a variety of communication platforms, discussing academic goals and guiding them through the enrollment process in a respectful, courteous, professional, accurate, and timely manner;Correspond promptly and professionally with applicants, proactively follow up at specific points during the recruitment cycle to answer questions and assist applicants;Hire, train, supervise, and motivate student wage workers in assisting with recruitment and admissions related tasks;Develop and implement strategies for applicants to optimize our yield from admit to deposit to matriculation;Consult and advise faculty and staff in the development and implementation of division and program level recruitment efforts; work with Associate Director of Admissions, Strategic Initiatives on strategic planning and delivery of enrollment and recruitment initiatives;Assist the Graduate Enrollment and Outreach Specialist in planning and execution of annual recruitment programming for the college consisting of large-scale open houses, program specific information sessions, application workshops, and a variety of other in-person and virtual recruitment events to accommodate a diverse array of prospective students and programs; andAssist the Senior Assistant Director, Graduate Enrollment Operations and program level advisors within the office with Bachelor's Accelerated Master's (BAM) outreach and recruitment by executing consultations with inquirers for the BAM programs and assist in the planning and execution of BAM recruitment events (virtual and/or in person) each academic year.Diversity and Access Partnership Development and University Liaison:Serve as a representative of the graduate programs for both School and University wide committees related to diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies as needed; andExecute initiatives within the School of Business graduate programs, including the establishment of key partnerships to increase and enhance our diversity recruitment responsibilities, to include the development of strategies and tactics focusing specifically on targeted populations.Reading and Selection:Review and process decisions for applicants to assigned masters programs and graduate certificates.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Excellent attention to detail with strong ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, high pressure environment;Demonstrated interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills;Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities; andAbility to interact well and relate well to people including having a strong customer service orientation.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree;Strong ability to speak publicly, both in person and via web-based tools;Demonstrated working knowledge of program administration and experience in a graduate program setting;Expertise and experience working with graduate-level students and online programs;Familiarity with George Mason University or another University's environment, including an understanding of the organizational and governance structure;Demonstrated ability to serve as part of a team and develop productive working relationships with multiple constituencies (i.e., student, faculty, staff, and alumni);Experience with the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
