Associate Director, Women and Gender Studies Program The Women and Gender Studies Program and Center at George Mason University seeks to hire an Associate Director to lead the academic initiatives that come out of this fully integrated, co-curricular program. About the Program:George Mason University's Women and Gender Studies program and center is one of the few programs in the country that houses both academic programs (undergraduate and graduate) and student affairs initiatives related to women and gender centers. As a fully integrated program and center, WGST offers a space for the exploration of social inequalities of gender, sexuality, race, class and disability across disciplinary and cultural borders through academic coursework, student development and leadership opportunities. The Women and Gender Studies program at Mason is located in close proximity to the vibrant Washington DC metropolitan area. About the Position:Reporting to the Director of Women and Gender Studies, the Associate Director will be responsible for providing academic administrative support for the program through program management and coordination, undergraduate advising, budget management, marketing initiatives, staffing and event planning. Based on qualifications and interest, the Associate Director may also teach one course a year for the program. Responsibilities:Course scheduling and catalog revisions;Advising undergraduate minors;Undergraduate and Graduate Program Coordination in consultation with respective Undergraduate and Graduate Program Directors;Planning events such as the Sojourner Truth Lecture, Scholar's Lecture and Women and Gender Studies Graduation;Overseeing financial and budget activities and adjunct contracts;Coordinating marketing initiatives and working with university and college marketing teams to create and maintain marketing materials;Serving on college and university committees on behalf of the program as needed;Staffing the Women and Gender Studies Center as needed and supporting the Assistant Director for Student Affairs Initiatives through University Life Collaborations; andPotentially teaching one course a year for the program. Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Humanities, Social Sciences or Interdisciplinary Studies OR equivalent combination of education and experience;Experience with academic program and curriculum administration in interdisciplinary or gender related fields;Experience with fiscal management;Experience with marketing and program outreach;Demonstrated competence in collaborating with offices on initiatives related to gender for the broader campus, both within student affairs and academic programs; andExcellent oral and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in Gender Studies or related area;Experience working in a co-curricular program/center; andExperience with fundraising.
