Payroll Assistant The George Mason University, Office of Human Resources and Payroll seeks a detail-oriented and organized team player to provide payroll support and processing as a Payroll Assistant to work a maximum of 29 hours per week. Responsibilities: This position is part of a larger employee service team and is responsible for the full-range of payroll processing activities, to include: Monitor emails daily sent to the payroll mailbox and provide timely resolutions and responses; Work with the departments to resolve timesheet errors;Track employee remote work agreements to ensure the appropriate state tax documents are received; Review Reports during and after Payroll runs to identify problems;Enter leave corrections for employees in the system following State and University Policies; Serve as back up for Payroll Specialists; andEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Prior experience in payroll or a customer service environment;Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer service;Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word and Excel;Skill in analysis, problem resolution; Ability to assemble and organize data, and make mathematical calculations;Ability to sensitively handle confidential material; and Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Preferred Qualifications:Certified Payroll Professional; Experience with the Ellucian Banner system or an equivalent in-house system; and Experience working in a high-volume payroll office environment.
