Graduate Student Services CoordinatorThe Schar School of Policy and Government seeks an enthusiastic and energetic person to serve as Graduate Student Services Coordinator. The Schar School's Office of Graduate Student Services provides the academic guidance and co-curricular resources students need during their time at George Mason University. Partnering with faculty, alumni, the University, and the larger community, Graduate Student Services supports students in reaching their academic and professional goals. This full-time, 12-month classified position works collaboratively with Graduate Student Services professional staff to support initiatives that foster the retention and academic and professional success of graduate students. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Master's Student Services and is based on the Arlington Campus. Responsibilities include:Developing Graduate Student Services materials, workshops, advising, and programming that is responsive to a range of student needs, to include the unique experiences, challenges, and opportunities for racially and ethnically diverse, first generation, multilingual, and international students, and students with disabilities; Coordinating the planning and implementation of programming that supports the access and retention of students who have been historically denied access to graduate education;Cultivating an inclusive working and learning environment; Coordinating with various Mason offices to identify and schedule presenters; Updating webpages and other external information materials; Drafting and disseminating announcements to prospective, incoming, and current students; Coordinating with other Arlington units and University Life on events and campus services (Writing Center hours, Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), INTO Mason, etc.); Contributing to social media communications and making use of various University information platforms; Running pertinent student data reports using MicroStrategy;Maintaining confidential student files and database records; maintaining office calendar; Answering incoming calls; greeting and directing students; responding to student and faculty inquiries regarding academic program requirements and procedures; and Practicing the university's commitment to inclusive excellence by centering diversity, equity, anti-racism, accessibility, and inclusion in Student Services.Required Qualifications:The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree and significant demonstrated office experience, or equivalent. The candidate must have experience in the use of technology to support data management; experience with Microsoft Office and web tools; exceptional written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills; and a demonstrated attention to detail. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently with a professional demeanor and a respect for information security.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in event planning and familiarity with social media is strongly desired. Experience with MicroStrategy is preferred; experience in a university setting is also preferred.
