Director of Academic Administration The George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual for a Director of Academic Administration position. First it prepares students to use their law degree in a broad range of public and private sector organizations with the Commonwealth and around the world. Second, it produces academic scholarship that expands society's understanding of law and legal institutions with a special focus on using economic tools and methods to do so.About the Position:The Director of Academic Administration would serve as the starting point for all law school academic administration matters, including the hiring and management of adjunct faculty, preparing the academic year schedules, and supporting various faculty committees addressing curriculum and other academic matters. The Director would manage the day-to-day academic administration, including responding to student and adjunct inquiries, partnering with Records Office and other academic administration staff regarding semester schedules and registration, and supervising one or more academic support staff. Responsibilities: Hire and manage law school adjunct faculty, including semester orientations, teaching evaluation processes (classroom observations, student evaluations, etc.) and post-semester debriefs; Prepare fall, spring, and summer course schedules, registration information, full-time faculty teaching assignments, and other annual academic planning; Publish semester course information to students (including partnering with law school Associate Registrar to create semester course schedules in Banner and/or Course Leaf) and adjust semester schedules, course enrollments, and other schedule aspects as necessary;Serve on faculty committees engaged in ongoing curriculum review and assessment (providing necessary data and other requested information regarding courses, enrollment, faculty assessment methods, etc.);Manage day-to-day academic administration matters (responding to student, adjunct, and other inquiries); Supervise one or more academic support staff; andUpdate and consult with colleagues as appropriate to ensure timely and accurate information sharing. Required Qualifications:Master's or equivalent combination of education & experience required; J.D. preferred. Prior academic or program management experience required; andEmployee is expected to proactively manage and demonstrate ownership of academic matters while consulting appropriately with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate information sharing. Employee must demonstrate exceptional judgment, attention to detail, time management, and customer service.
