We drive AARP's social mission efforts through our dynamic, nationwide advocacy social media presence. You will be a part of the team that develops strategy, plans and creates content, identifies opportunities and trends, seeks and shares best practices, and tests and learns, all while engaging our members and activists to make the world a better place. You'll gain hands-on experience managing social media accounts, creating content, working with multiple groups and stakeholders, and using data to reach our goals and expand our program. We'll challenge you to think and work in new ways at one of the largest social mission organizations in the country. This internship has an expected summer start date and will go through December 2022.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit social content (Campaigns include: Voter Engagement, Prescription Drugs, Caregiving, and Financial Security)
  • Assist with editorial planning, content management and scheduling, and channel management
  • Assist with Campaigns events
  • Assist with reporting and data analysis

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Strong writing skills, emphasis on social media writing preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in social media and advocacy: the ideal candidate will be someone who keeps up on current events and news and loves all things social media
  • Experience with analytics and reporting is a plus
  • DC based preferred, but open to telework for the right candidate who thrives on working independently
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise


Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
