About the Position: The selected candidate will have a wide range of skills, expertise in studio arts, and are expected to teach courses across the School of Art. We are particularly interested in finding a candidate who will bring a broad skill set with experience in one or more of the following backgrounds or abilities: painting/drawing, printmaking, new media, social practice, or sculpture. The Studio Art program within the School of Art is an interdisciplinary program and we are interested in faculty who can contribute to furthering interdisciplinary curriculum development, including expansion of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Studio Arts. In addition to teaching, the selected candidates will be expected to engage in professional creative research and perform service in alignment with the type of appointment. These positions begin August 2022. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Studio Arts program and work with faculty to develop new courses that will expand the School's offerings and serve students in related disciplines; Sustain an active program of nationally/internationally recognized creative and/or scholarly research in their areas of expertise, and participate in local and national professional organizations; Complement existing faculty expertise; Contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching within the School of Art;Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; andContribute to the School's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. Required Qualifications: MFA (or equivalent) degree in studio arts or a related field; or substantial professional record with national/international recognition;Successful experience teaching studio arts at the college level;Active record of recognized professional activity and creative research; andExperience working with a diverse population. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to inclusive pedagogies and curriculum in alignment with Mason's Anti-Racism & Inclusive Excellence Mission;Demonstrate and articulate a vision for the future of arts education; andCapacity for leadership, and a record of strong research and scholarship.
