Administrative Assistant, Department of Sociology & AnthropologyThe George Mason University, Department of Sociology and Anthropology is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and operational support.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment. Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for performing a wide variety of specialized tasks to support multiple functional areas and programs. The selected candidate will:Assist students with a variety of forms and questions in a friendly manner;Assist faculty and visitors with travel authorizations and submit for reimbursements;Reconcile financial accounts;Assist Program and Graduate Directors;Order supplies for the department; Manage events;Manage files, Support and maintain other operational functions and activities including, but not limited to keys management, telecom, computer installation, equipment inventory, grade changes, room reservations, departmental listservs, and website management; Coordinate the course schedule, including add/cancel courses and cross-list course submittal; andPerform other office related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills;Proficient with Microsoft Office;Able to work independently and as part of a team;Coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously;Must have excellent problem-solving skills and work proactively to anticipate and resolve issues;Ability to learn, establish best practices, and teach new processes and policies; andDemonstrated experience working with the public.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree;Familiarity with Ellucian Banner and eVA; andThree years of office experience.
