We are currently looking for a person who is interested in working in the food industry. Due to Covid-19 the restaurant industry has been the hardest hit. The Woodlea bakery has been deemed a essential business and is not subject to government closure. We are in need of culinary professionals who are interested in possibly making the change from restaurant to bakery. We are willing to train.Responsibilities*Prepare and fry donutsClean kitchen equipment and tools before useWeigh flour and other ingredients to prepare doughBake different bread types, like pretzels, baguettes and multigrain breadsAdjust oven temperatures to ensure proper bakingMix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (eg chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings, like flowersShape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rollsSkillsExperience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar roleFamiliarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheetersUnderstanding of food safety practicesExperience with cake decoration techniquesExcellent time-management skillsAbility to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environmentTeam spirit, with a customer-focused attitudeFlexibility to work in early morning shiftsCertification from a culinary school is a plusThe Woodlea bakery takes great pride in our willingness and ability to train and our own employees.
