Project EngineerJob DescriptionAerolab is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a project engineer position. The position is full-time. The candidate will be responsible for scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality. The Project Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines of ongoing projects and will establish inspection criteria for the proper implementation of all the elements of a project.The candidate must be capable of working with multiple discipline projects and must demonstrate excellent project management and supervision skills. The candidate should also have excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with general contractors, sub-contractors, architects, engineers, fabricators, and owners throughout projects were Aerolab may either serve as a prime contractor, sub-contractor, or independent supplier to an owner. Primary responsibilities will include management of schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, inventory, equipment, and materials.The Project Engineer we are looking for will have previous experience in project management and construction management from either a general contractor, sub-contractor, specialty equipment manufacturer, A&E firm, or owner team. The ideal applicant will be highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines and keep projects under budget.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe candidate is expected to perform the following routine functions:Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.Formulating project parameters and coordinating and monitoring the project team.Interacting with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and representing them in the field.Oversee construction related activities of Aerolab projectsManage construction related budgets and estimate costsPerforming quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project's status.Cooperating and communicating with management and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability.Collaborate with general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project teamReviewing the engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actions.Collaborate and communicate with project or building ownership when neededKeep all stakeholders aware of the progress on projects and prepare progress reports regularlyParticipate in and lead meetings for regular progress updates, OAC and pull sessionsNegotiate with external vendors and subcontractors on contract agreementsDeveloping specifications for the project's needed equipment.Creating frameworks to measure the project's metrics.Establish field test methods and methods for monitoring the quality of those tests.Determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower neededEnsure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to scheduleConduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standardsEnsure project compliance with the applicable codes, safety regulations, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.Conduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standardsFunction as part of a Product Design Team following the guidance provided by design and project engineers.Required SkillsProper interpretation of design specifications, drawings, and schematicsFamiliarity with engineering and construction terminologyExtensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projectsExcellent knowledge of construction materials and equipmentProficient in use of Microsoft ProjectExperience with Procore Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Word Processing softwareExperience with typical CAD packages including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks is preferredKnowledge of sheet metal design and fabricationGood time management skills, high work ethicsAble to multitask and plan aheadExcellent time management skillsPositive contributor to team participationFocused, methodical with good analytical skillsAble to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memosExcellent communication skills and ability to work in teamsEducation and Experience5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar roleBS/BA in Architecture, Engineering, Construction management or other associated fieldExperience with large-scale construction projects is preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license is preferredLocation and TravelThe position is based at Aerolab's main facility in Jessup MDFrequent offsite travel to customer sites will be requiredJob Type: Full-timePay: $53,879.00 - $113,551.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftAbility to commute/relocate:Jessup, MD 20794: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Required)Education:Bachelor's (Required)Experience:Project management: 10 years (Required)Willingness to travel:25% (Preferred)Work Location: One location
