Job Announcement

Assists with operations and oversight of 10,000 square foot facility, budget management, equipment maintenance; maintains rapport with members and provides exemplary customer service to employees. Develops and continually enhances standard operating procedures and policies and recommends enhancements to improve operational process; maintains records of updated policies, procedures, incidents, and programs. Trains new staff members; develops training guides and manuals. Collaborates with Fitness Director to develop and implement fitness programs, group exercise classes, workshops, and special events for gym members, employees, and retirees.

Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are general administrative support, sports and physical education, fitness and wellness, recreation, and business administration.

General Financial Duties

Fiscal Administration
Maintains files;
Distributes reports;
Performs simple data entry into internal agency system.

Posts ledgers;
Prepares routine forms.

Inventories, receives, and shelves routine supplies;
Reviews invoices/packing slips to ensure shipment is correct.
Scheduling & Coordinating for others
Schedules rooms, meetings and/or tours.

Produces and/or hand distributes simple documents (e.g., flyers).

General Administrative
Performs routine, simple filing and non-critical copying;
Collates documents;
Distributes mail.

Receptionist/Public Contact
Refers calls;
Greets visitors;
Gives standard information in response to phone or in-person inquiries.

Information Systems/Software
Performs simple data entry into single screen.

Files non-critical records;
Photocopies non-critical items.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation.

The following certifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire:
  • CPR
  • AED
  • First Aid

  • Nationally recognized Group Fitness or Personal Training certification (such as ACSM, ACE or AFAA) or related fitness certification;
  • At least two years of experience in fitness center operations;
  • At least one year of experience in event planning, implementation, or coordination;
  • At least six months of experience in fitness equipment maintenance;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

  • The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.
  • All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

Job is generally sedentary with occasional on-site visits to other county locations for hosting programs. Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitors. May be required to lift up to 60 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
