Duties

  • Review applications and other written requests for completeness, accuracy, and legality pertaining to Department of Defense sponsored personal property shipments.
  • Perform rating and routing tasks for shipments.
  • Consider weight, tariffs, date of packing/pickup, required delivery date to choose mode of transportation.
  • Compute shipment costs of property.
  • Screen movement orders for correct funding appropriation and citation.
  • Review completed applications to ensure precision.
  • Assure all necessary documents accompany shipment (Including customs paperwork).
  • Provide bills of lading and diversion certificates for movement of household goods.
  • Compose and deliver correspondence relative to shipment of goods and property.
  • Calculate and reports data and cost of shipping personal property for use in studies at higher headquarters.
  • Determine and select transportation service providers and routes for overseas shipments.
  • Make cost comparisons of shipping fees.
  • Occasional overtime may be required. Employee may be required to perform extended work days/week.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: Work that includes determining efficient and economical rates/routes for shipments, reviewing completed applications for accuracy, resolving problems as they relate to movement of personal goods, and interpreting policies/regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education
