Our client, a growing Non-Profit in Montgomery County is looking to add to their finance team with a Grants Finance Manager. In the role of Grants Finance Manager, you will advise, consult, oversee, coordinate, and deliver financial management services related to all the organizations grants programs and scientific initiatives related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). You will be responsible for all financial planning and analysis functions for those programs, including the development of annual budgets, management reporting and variance analysis, financial forecasts, preparation of long-range plans, and implementation and upgrade of related systems. This is a collaborative position and will allow you to work with programmatic partners to develop and maintain processes that track expenditures and activities against Trustees-approved initiatives. A key component of this role is the responsibility to explain and synthesize concepts and data in a written format. You will manage and mentor one Financial Analyst and report directly to the Director of Science and Grants Business Management.In this role, you will:Develop and maintain Long Range Plan for all Grants and DEI programmatic activities.Budgeting - Lead the process for developing the annual Grants and DEI programmatic budgets, in close coordination with various budget owners.Forecasting - Manage the process of developing periodic forecasts for the full year, based on current actual expenditures and revised estimates for the rest of the year.Provide cash forecasting to Treasury for all Grant activities.Management Reporting and Variance Analysis - Ensure that actual spending is tracked in a manner that enables consistent monthly and year-to-date reporting of actual expenditures vs. the budget in a format that is most useful for business decision making.Manage Early Career Scientist activities such as host-site payments and equipment purchasing opportunities.Review and assess all grants financial reports submitted by grantee host institutions and individuals.Provide operational and financial management leadership and oversight, establishing and enforcing standards for Grants and DEI Programs to drive operational and financial management standardization and policy compliance.Act as primary contact on all financial matters for program staff, including Science Education Program Officers, Scientific Officers, and Science Program Coordinators.Act as liaison between Finance, Science Education, and Science departments, communicating operational and financial information efficiently, accurately, and consistently.Monitor and control systems access to ensure appropriate financial and personnel information confidentiality.Monitor changes made to or needed in Institute policies or procedures, consult in creation of new materials.Model leadership behaviors expected of all Finance staff.The ideal candidate for this Grants Finance Manager role will have 8+ years of forecasting/budgeting, BS in Accounting or Finance, grantor budgeting preferred, strong Excel skills as well as supervisory.
