The Nuclear Energy Institute is transforming the way trade associations operate to influence policy and attract support from new audiences and influential validators. Through its video series, ad campaign and forward-thinking content, NEI is positioning its voice in conversations that call for actions in response to climate and environmental challenges facing the world today.The Art Director will join an innovative team of communication strategists, responsible for changing perceptions of nuclear energy and placing nuclear in relevant conversations around climate, finance, and energy. NEI is looking for a creative individual who can manage, organize, and lead the design team to deliver thoughtfully crafted concepts to sharpen focus on the most impactful and engaging storytelling solutions that strengthens the success of content creations across the organization. This person will partner and collaborate with the advocacy communications, marketing/events teams as well as project leads across the organization to develop innovative design solutions that are unified, exceptional and audience focused.As part of our team, you'll enjoy:Flexible work environmentCompetitive salaryExceptional benefits packageGenerous Vacation & Sick LeaveEmployer-matched 401(k) planPrincipal Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the Senior Creative Director to understand NEI's business objectives, brand strategy and audience needs in order to approach project solutions holisticallyInfluence cross-functional teams in defining project's visual and experiential opportunities. Develop design briefs to connect the dots to project objectives, define design direction and to create clarity of expectations between stakeholders and design team.Lead the design team to explore viable and impactful design solutions while understanding usability issues, user experience trends and metrics.Create and encourage an inclusive, collaborative and empowering environment for the design team to do innovative and impactful work.Hold and participate in brainstorming, check-in and review sessions to ensure the design work produced is aligned with other initiatives in the organization.Partner with the Senior Creative Director and project leads to create a streamlined and effective workflow by ranking priorities, creating production schedules and managing the creative team's work in progress.Job SpecificationsBA or BFA in Graphic Design or other related design field, with a minimum 5-7 years relevant experience and2+ years' experience leading design teams.Portfolio of original and breakthrough work, with a focus on user-centered design.KnowledgeExcellent leadership skills; keeping a level head, solving problems, building confidence, and motivating the design team.Expertise in developing creative solutions across a broad range of projects, including video, motion graphics, long format digital publications, in-person and online events, booth designs, experiential signage and instructional design.Solid knowledge of the creative process including time and resources needed to produce quality work on time, on budget and to specifications.Knowledge in video, digital mediums, animation/motion, printing/graphic arts procedures, and terminology.Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.Excellent skills with design software, including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Xd. Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects experience a plus.Knowledge with Microsoft office software and familiarity with SharePoint cloud services.Excellent design, layout, and typography skills in a range of media across a broad range of projects.Ability to present the team's work knowledgeably and expertly to a broad audience.
