Job Summary & ObjectivesThe IP Docketing Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive IP docketing services to the firm, including foreign and domestic patent, trademark, and copyright docketing through independent date calculation and proficient use of the firm's computerized docketing database. Facilitates firm compliance with docketing policies and protocols to minimize the risk of missed deadlines.DutiesReceive, open, and review all US and foreign incoming mail.Review all correspondence pertaining to IP prosecution and enter all due dates contained in incoming correspondence, including faxes and emails, into the docketing system; coordinate with attorneys/staff to ensure that all deadlines are met.Open new matters and input records into database for both foreign and domestic patent, trademark, and copyright cases; and process requests to transfer cases in and out of the Firm, including updating database.Maintain a thorough knowledge of the IP management system to ensure its integrity and to gain maximum advantage of the automation business processes.Generates attorney and client reports as requested using docketing database.Processes filings, including clearing due dates and actions from docketing database.Processes attorney, specialist and paralegals requests.Provide timely docket reports and clear docket on a daily basis.Keeps current with USPTO, PCT, WIPO, Copyright, and Foreign IP rules and practices.Other duties as assigned.Skills/QualificationsEducationAssociates degree preferred.ExperienceAt least 5 years' experience in IP Docketing required. Knowledge of IP docketing system, Foundation IP preferred.Communication SkillsStrong written and oral communication skills.CompetenciesDemonstrates the appropriate level of proficiency, skill and knowledge of the position as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and development.Working knowledge of both foreign and domestic patent, trademark and copyright prosecution rules.Ability to multi task and strong attention to detail.Ability to search websites to locate pertinent information to maintain accurate information in the firm's docket system, including the docketing of accurate due dates.Excellent organizational and project management skills required.Effectively and professionally conveys oral and written information with all levels of the firm, clients and vendors.Ability to work under pressure while producing a high volume of information with attention to detail.Demonstrates a strong commitment to the firm's strategic goals and mission.Serves as a role model and promotes a positive work environment that values diversity by inspiring trust, confidence, motivation to succeed, and the firm's core values.Physical DemandsAbility to sit for long periods of time and type.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.Job Type: Full-timeSchedule:Monday to FridayEducation:Associate (Preferred)Experience:IP Docketing: 5 years (Preferred)Law firm: 3 years (Preferred)Trademark: 5 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location
