JOB PURPOSEEnsures the facility, grounds, and manufacturing equipment are operating to the defined requirements. Ensures business growth plans are implemented within given time and cost constraints. Ensures equipment maintenance achieves machine performance plans within given time and budget constraints. Ensures the facility, grounds, and operations are compliant to all environmental regulations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSA' . Work with all other department management to set priorities for Engineering and Maintenance work activities in accordance with set long term business plan, daily machine priorities, and Operations' management priorities.A' . Plant layout: equipment work stations, materials and storage, fork truck traffic patterns, building services, employee parking, employee and trailer traffic, emergency evacuation routes.A' . Define requirements for major building utilities: electricity, natural gas, propane, heating/cooling, domestic water, sanitary sewer, trash removal, other. Define requirements for auxiliary utility systems for production processes: RO water, inks, adhesives, fountain solution, scrap removal, chilled water, steam, compressed air, other. Design systems, purchase, install, and maintain operation to meet requirements.A' . Define requirement specifications for all new manufacturing and building services equipment, conduct competitive bidding, cost justification, assist Purchasing with purchase, plan and manage installation, and facilitate integration of the new equipment into the existing operations.A' . Define and maintain document and data control systems (hard copy and electronic) so that all data, manuals, drawings, permits, etc. needed to support the manufacturing operations are readily available and accurate.A' . Identify process improvement opportunities. Evaluate, recommend, and implement solution.A' . Define, design, implement, and manage waste paper processing and recycling operations.A' . Structure and conduct data collection activities, and complete needed calculations and reports.A' . Research to maintain knowledge of suppliers for equipment, parts, supplies, and services needed within any part of Operations.A' . Equipment succession planning, including building services.A' . Define and record the Preventive Maintenance requirements for all Operations' and Building Services equipment and systems. Develop master plan for PM activities and facilitate implementation.A' . Define work order management system for Maintenance work activities, including but not limited to: parts, labor, and historical records.A' . Define goals/objectives, basic methodology, schedule, budget, and performance measurements for Engineering and Maintenance project work. Assign project lead and other needed resources, then facilitate completion. Confirm results or work.A' . Manage Parts Room to ensure adequate inventory levels based on machine uptime and total cost control, and timely arrival of parts/supplies.A' . Interface with Scheduling department to ensure Preventive Maintenance time is allotted to all production and facility equipment, and to secure scheduled down time for needed machine repairs, modifications, and moves.A' . Work within crews to demonstrate methods, perform repairs, solve problems, or troubleshoot.A' . Identify local, state, and federal statutory and regulatory requirements that apply to the present operations. Maintain required permits, procedures, and record keeping to maintain compliance.A' . Serve as liason to town, county, state, and federal officials, or local community residents, on behalf of the company.A' .
