Learn more at .Simply put, CIVIC would not function without its Finance team. The Director of Finance will lead this team, and act as a key thought-partner for the Senior Management Team. The position reports to our Senior Director of Operations.The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative leader, charged with further developing an internal team to support the following areas: finance and accounting, business planning and budgeting, financial compliance, and grant management. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision-making and operations as CIVIC continues to grow its team in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced Finance professional to advance our mission of supporting civilians affected by conflict.About the PositionSimply put, CIVIC would not function without its Finance team. The position reports to our Senior Director of Operations.The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative leader, charged with further developing an internal team to support the following areas: finance and accounting, business planning and budgeting, financial compliance, and grant management.This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced Finance professional to advance our mission of supporting civilians affected by conflict.Key FunctionsLead the evolution of CIVIC's finance department and cooperate with senior management to strategically develop and further strengthen the organization.Manage a team that operates across Finance and Accounting, budgeting, financial compliance, and grant management.You will directly manage three or more supervisees and be responsible for their professional growth.You will hold overall responsibility for the flawless execution of financial processes and financial consolidation across 12 offices on four continents.Work with external auditors to complete annual audit and Form 990 along with the Sr. Manager of Accounting and FinanceWork with external auditors to complete program audit along with the Manager, Financial ComplianceCommunicate (both in verbal and written form) with auditors, vendors, and banking contactsDevelop financial policies and procedures for HQ and Field office staffRequirements/QualificationsA minimum of 12 years of experience within the field of Finance and Administration.A minimum of three years of experience managing a team of financial professionals, preferably within the context of international development.A Master's degree or similar in Finance, Accounting, or another related field.Confident with technology, both its use and implementation. More specifically, excellent grasp on how multiple financial systems interact with each other and how to troubleshoot issues that are a result of the interaction of financial systems.Financial modeling and analysis skills, including the development of financial dashboards.Ability to think and act strategically while being comfortable with getting into the weeds and supporting the CIVIC team through providing tactical advice.Excellent Microsoft Office and accounting software skills.Knowledge of MIP, Intacct, Vena, or Expensify is desired, but not required.Additional DetailsWe are looking for candidates who are passionate about financial processes and the people behind them, who are dedicated to building and improving systems, and who see this role as an opportunity to advance our missions and not just another job.
