Champion enterprise innovation initiatives and work to incorporate Innovation Methodologies across Innovation Program initiatives and other initiatives across the Laboratory. Find opportunities for the Innovation program to directly support and further align with APL's vision. Serve as Project Manager for various high-priority Innovation program projects and activities. Champion enterprise innovation initiatives and work to incorporate innovation methodologies (such as design thinking and agile practices) across lab initiatives. Identify and implement approaches for further integrating APL's innovation related activities into the daily fabric of work at APL. Track outputs from innovation initiatives and initiate activities that work towards staff engagement and realization of staff ideas. Serve as a catalyst to accelerate the transition of ideas from conceptualization to realization of innovation. Facilitate staff sharing of innovation enabling methods and navigating the variety of innovation opportunities available at APL. Provide staff with opportunities to experience the culture of innovation at APL. Lead technical discussions and brainstorms, and be an events anchor. Align and transition opportunities for staff to mature their innovation ideas. Serve as project manager for high-priority projects within the Innovation portfolio, including the development of project plans, status reporting, and analysis and other activities as required. Lead the analysis of requirements through interactions with business users, subject matter specialists and project team members. Brief management and build/maintain project documentation. Lead and mentor teams to complete tasks on time. Coordinate across multiple organizations to provide team resources. Interact and collaborate with all levels of staff to include active participation and involvement as part of the Innovation Program's Management Team. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: You meet the minimum requirements if you have Bachelor's degree in a technical field (information systems, engineering, computer science or related area) or equivalent years of professional technical work experience. 5+ years of solid work experience, including project management experience. At least 3 years of solid project or team leadership experience. Certifications (or equivalent work experience) in design thinking, human-centered design, and/or agile practices. Demonstrated ability to conduct a needs assessment, recommend a path forward, and implement a solution. Ability to lead and manage projects to successful completion, with experience developing blended multidisciplinary teams. Ability to adopt frequent changes in the project direction and manage a team through these changes. Exhibit flexibility in all aspects of project leadership. Excellent communication, customer interface, analytical, and organizational skills. Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities (and experience). Must have the ability to head large-scale discussions and emcee events, as needed. The ability to work some weekends and other after-hours to handle and/or complete project/work-related business needs, such as event planning. You go above and beyond if you have a Master's degree in a technical or management field Project Management Institute (PMI) CertificationSalary Range: $80K -- $100K *Minimum QualificationTechnical Project Management
