Inova Health System is seeking a System Division Chief of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine to lead the Palliative Medicine and Comprehensives Care Program with additional oversight of the Inova Fairfax Geriatric Medicine team. The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus team currently consists of an interdisciplinary team including 5 physicians, 3 nurse practitioners, 3 social workers, and a chaplain. The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Geriatrics team currently consists of a Medical Director, 2 physician providers and 2 nurse practitioners.Our comprehensive, expert teams, provides specialty consultation throughout the 912 bed hospital campus, comprised of Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, and Inova Women's and Children's Hospital. In addition to the Fairfax Medical Campus the Division Chief will also oversee the Palliative Care Programs at the Western and Eastern Region Hospitals which are led by other physician leaders that report to the System Division Chief. We aim to enhance the provision of palliative and geriatric care by all service providers by incorporating specialists into the fabric of other service lines in the form of committee engagement, policy review and creation, and ongoing educational efforts. Our integrated palliative care model will lead to transformation of care for patients with chronic, progressive, serious illness and end of life. Our Geriatrics team focuses caring for elderly patients with specific needs related to debility, dementia, delirium and loss of quality of life. Both our Palliative Care and Geriatrics teams work to improve health outcomes by providing effective, efficient care that is patient and family centered. We are looking for leader who desires to foster growth and meet the unique professional development needs of each team member.Core Responsibilities:. Lead in a style that encompasses the Inova Values. . In collaboration with other Medicine Service line leaders and Inova leaders, design and implement the vision for System Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine. Responsible for overseeing all employed Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine Physicians, employed Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), employed Medical/Clinical Directors, and APP leaders, for all sites of care. Leads the alignment and development, championing, and metrics analysis for all Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine care quality initiatives across the system. Oversite of all system provider recruitment and community provider contracts in collaboration with the Medicine Service Line and hospital leadership teams.. Standardization and alignment of Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine delivery and severity-adjusted outcomes across all care units in the system.. Responsible for leading Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine initiatives and Value Improvement Projects (VIP) with a focus on patient safety, value, and quality. . Development of programs and services in partnership with the Medicine Service Line nursing, administrative, and medical leadership teams, hospital CMOs, and other Service Line Leaders throughout the system.Supervisory role for operational areas impacting Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine: o Procurement for system equipment and serviceso Evaluation and management of budget, revenues, and expenses for the applicable Physician Enterprise and hospital cost centers as it relates to Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine services. Applying a fiscally judicious approach with economic sustainability in mindo Regulatory / compliance requirements o Disaster planning/responseo Risk management/legalo Chair System Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine Council and Work groupso Research and Education . Collaboration with Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine nursing and administration to improve outcomes, patient experience, and retention at all sites of care.. Involvement with all strategic decision-making within the Medicine Service Line.. Collaboration with GME & UME to facilitate and foster an enriching learning environment for rotating medical students, residents, and fellows.. Partner with the Inova Foundation to engage grateful patients to support our established priorities. Any other defined role per Inova Medicine Service Line leadership direction.Additional Responsibilities: . Oversight of compliance and contract execution for system Hospice and general inpatient . Oversight of partnerships with community Palliative and Hospice providers . Oversight of fellowship development (ongoing ) with opportunity for fellowship leadership if desired. Requirements: -BC/BE in Palliative Care or Geriatrics -Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Virginia -Credentialed by the INOVA Health System
