7NewsDC (WJLA) in Arlington, Virginia (DC-DMA #7) is looking for a dynamic digital news leader that can help a team of content creators produce in-depth, local news coverage across DC, Maryland and Virginia. That person must have an editorial vision that promotes audience growth across all screens, including social media, while being committed to our On Your Side brand. Our vision for this position: The Digital Media Executive Producer will work with the station's news management to steer breaking news coverage across the website, social media and our app. They will also work with reporters, anchors and other content creators in the newsroom to build out expansive, balanced and accurate daily news coverage across digital platforms. They will collaborate with the Multiplatform Content Director and the corporate digital team to set goals for the station's web team and help maintain a consistent product for our users. They will also be tasked to help lead the station's social listening and pitch stories important to people in the market. What you'll do in this role: Define and implement a digital content strategy for WJLA.com and for its content creators Manage editorial decisions and daily operations for wjla.com, the news app and social media accounts and streaming platforms for the station. This includes making sure our coverage remains under the umbrella of our brand -- 7News On Your Side You'll be charged with making sure the web site hits its goals by actively using metrics and data to make the strategic decisions about web content, maintaining and/or improving the site's SEO, driving to the website from our social platforms and coordinating with on-air producers and talent to promote to the website You'll also be curating the homepage, gathering and producing content, managing website publishing workflow and adhering the station's style guidelines. Help manage, hire all digital staff and train anyone who submits digital content to wjla.com Experience needed: 5-7 years of experience of creating digital new content with at least 2-3 years as manager Strong communication and organization skills Proven ability to grow audience in an evolving digital industry Expertise in analytics and data, understanding Google Analytics Experience managing people, setting expectations and holding your team accountable Understanding of SEO and best practices around publishing digital content Ability to handle breaking news and lead a team with digital coverage Journalism degree or equivalent experience in digital news-writing Be solution-oriented, adapt quickly Fluency in digital content management systems Social media expertise, especially on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free Workplace!
