Energy and Utility Manager The George Mason University, Facilities Department is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for it's Energy and Utility Manager. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Energy and Utility Manager is responsible for minimizing the consumption of energy and water while maximizing the efficiency of the energy user at the most economical and efficient manner as possible. This position is responsible for managing and tracking the utility budgets and for developing projects to reduce energy and water, auditing buildings to find deficiencies and reporting monthly progress in energy intensity measured in (MMBTU/KSF).Responsibilities:Develop energy projects, energy audits, and utility tracking;Produce reports, and spreadsheets for tracking energy consumption;Conduct measurement and verification;Process information for accuracy and completeness;Maintain reports, programs, alarms, scheduling, set points, Reno and trends;Maintain files for record keeping as it relates to Utility programs and other duties as assigned in support of the Energy Management Department;Manage utility budgets and develop a complete understanding of utility providers for all campus. Report, track, and recommend on all utilities; andCommunicates with BA, Energy Management, and other Facilities Management employees to maintain a flow of information and ensure that all paperwork/records are kept at a high level of accuracy.Required Qualifications:Certified Energy Manager® Certification;Considerable (typically five (5)+ years of experience) in Energy Management and Project Development;Thorough knowledge of Energy concepts and systems;Ability to analyze information relating to energy consumption and auditing equipment;Interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings;Ability to communicate well in writing and orally to include technical and non-technical writing; andMust currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and 5 years of experience in the Energy field;Demonstrated knowledge in HVAC systems and controls;DDC;ASHRAE Level I-Q; andEnergy Auditing.
