Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our Native Apps team! As an Intern, you will collaborate with our senior engineers for technical analysis, design and development or enhancement of Android applications. You will participate in all facets of the agile development process and will have the opportunity to contribute to products that will be used by millions of people.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop applications for Android platform
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and solve problems
  • Participate in agile software development practices and peer/code reviews.
  • Document and test new software applications
  • Assess new application ideas
  • Proactively learn latest technologies/mobile trends


Qualifications
  • Computer Science/Network Engineering, Engineering, or Mathematics background
  • Excellent analytical and mathematics skills
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Experience programming in C, C++, or Java
  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals
  • Experience working with Android SDK is a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and collaboration skills.
