Duties

Serves as the Meatcutter Supervisor in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) location. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a supervisor of the Meat Department.

Position responsibilities include:
  • Plan, organize, and direct the meat department operations
  • Supervise and provide direction to subordinate employees within the department
  • Ensure workload requirements are met to include establishing prices for all meat products sold
  • Inspect equipment and check temperature level regularly
  • Conduct frequent inspections of work areas to ensure regulatory compliance with sanitary and safety policies
  • Maintain production records and reports

  • Physical Requirements: Walk and stand continuously while working; Frequently lift, push, or pull pieces and bulk boxes of meat weighing 25 pounds or more with the use of hand truck and dollies.

Examples of qualifying experience:
  • Process beef, pork, veal, and lamb into varying types and size of steaks and roasts to include special order crown roast into retail and ready to eat cuts
  • Use tools common to the trade to include handsaws, bone dusters, electric saws, meat tenderizers, slicers, and grinders
  • Lead and instruct subordinates in specific tasks and job techniques
  • Monitor employees work schedule, performance, conduct, and training
By the announcement closing date current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest nontemporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment .
