Duties

As a Fuel Distribution System Worker (Title 32), WG-5413-08, you will perform the below duties:

You will operate and maintain a fuel distribution system composed of bulk storage, hydrant-refueling system, or a tanker truck operation used to perform ground refueling of aviation aircraft. Receive, store, and issue aviation fuels for the facility. Operate a complete bulk fuel storage and distribution system composed of storage tanks, interconnecting line and pipe arrangements, pumps, meters and gauges, etc.. Operate gasoline or diesel powered truck with a gross vehicle weight of more than 22,000 pounds having 1200 to 5000 gallon capacity on public roads and highways on a regular and recurring basis in order to receive aircraft fuel from a commercial or government storage site and transport it to aircraft operating sites. Conduct aqua-glo, milipor, and other fuels tests at required intervals to determine the existence of water, sediments, and other contaminate in the fuel. The function utilizes a bulk storage fuel farm to store one or more types of aviation fuel.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than 22 November 2021. Per Centers for Disease Control, you are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the final dose in your vaccination series.
  • You must provide proof of vaccination, or an approved medical/religious exemption (or application) at orientation.

REMARKS: TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT - Selected applicant will receive a temporary appointment Not to Exceed One Year. The appointment may be ex-tended up to a maximum of 1 additional year (24 months of total service).

WHO CAN APPLY?:
GROUP I -
All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Members (E-1/PVT - E-5/SGT), currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Members (E-1/PVT - E-5/SGT), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
GROUP III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard.

Military Grades: (E-1/PVT - E-5/SGT)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and to safely operate and maintain a fuel distribution system composed of bulk storage, hydrant-refueling system, or a tanker truck operation used to perform ground refueling of aviation aircraft.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : You must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  • Experience or training working in activities such as large fuel depots or fuel farms with complex, interconnecting line and pipe arrangements.
  • Experience with frequent requirements for large scale movement and transfer of a variety of liquid fuels.
  • Experience or training pumping gasoline, oil, jet fuel, or other similar products.
  • Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
