Position Summary:The Human Resource (HR) Generalist will run all HR functions for the 50-person company including full cycle recruitment and hiring process, maintaining personnel records, assisting with benefit administration, managing the yearly performance review cycle, and assisting with employee training and development. This position serves as the primary contact for management, employees, and consultants for all HR-related matters. The HR Generalist will work with leadership to support an effective HR policy framework and champion a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.Duties/Responsibilities:Maintain HR records including employment files; ensure proper documentation is generated and maintained regarding status changes (job information, compensation, benefits, employment status, etc.)Manage benefits and payroll administration in partnership with third parties (ADP, benefits broker, insurance companies, etc.)Lead the recruiting and hiring processes necessary to recruit and hire staff, consultants, and interns, assisting hiring managers and/or recruiters with the recruitment processOn-boarding of new employees and out-processing of departing employeesHelp to organize training and development initiatives. Assist with implementation of associate engagement programs such as diversity/culture in local settings and promotes inclusionManage activities and programs related to rewards and recognition that motivate staff, promote a positive culture, and encourage good employer/employee relationsAssists with the preparation of the performance review process, ensuring equity and effectiveness; provide consultation on performance review cycle activities (planning, evaluation, and feedback)Assists in updating and implementing HR policies and employee handbook, serves as a contact for all employees to interpret HR policies, procedures, and benefitsRequired Education, Certifications, Skills, Capabilities:U.S. CitizenshipBachelor's degree in relevant field2+ years related experience in human resources administrationAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercises discretion with sensitive informationProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Microsoft TeamsAbility to analyze situations to effectively provide suggested resolutions as well as organizational and planning skillsExperience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and demonstrated knowledge of strategies that support a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racismDesired Education, Certification, Skills, Capabilities:HR and/or HIPAA CertificationsExperience preparing, interpreting, analyzing, standard reports and recordsExperience with ADP Workforce Now, Clear Company, and E-VerifyGeneral knowledge of employee and labor relations, Federal and State employment and labor lawsPrimary Work Location: Hybrid - Arlington, Virginia & RemoteVirginia Tech Applied Research Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
