Seeking a Geotechnical/Structural Engineer to support a growing Engineering & Inspections division. Qualified candidates will be self-driven, organized problem solvers with capabilities in managing complex projects. The successful candidate should possess detailed knowledge of the geotechnical field and have demonstrated experience with report writing and client interaction. Be solution oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced environment. In addition, this role will support design development of light structural engineering elements by preparing drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contractual requirements. Role & Responsibilities: Develop geotechnical engineering scope of services and fee estimates Planning and oversight of geotechnical investigations Manage geotechnical and construction phase observation and testing field work performed by others Manage client relationships and business development Perform project management activities including communicating resource needs, managing client expectations, planning and delegating work, and management of project budgets Assign, review and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and calculations Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations and write geotechnical engineering reports Perform field work such as construction observation and on-site client consultation Development of concrete and steel structural design and drawings, including seismic considerations Assist with oversight of geotechnical exploration Assess integrity of existing structures Characterize site soil and drainage conditions, perform settlement and slope stability analysis Value engineering to include the review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integration into the design solution Required Skills/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis on Geotechnical with some Structural) from an ABET accredited program, Master's degree preferred Professional Engineering registration in Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical consulting and construction inspections as a licensed professional engineer AutoCAD and GIS skills suitable for developing geotechnical deliverables Proficiency with gINT (or an equivalent boring log software) and geotechnical engineering analysis software such as GeoStase, GeoStudio, or similar programs, and structural design software such as ENERCALC, Allpile, Retain-Pro, and SRWall Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement Ability to multi-task and thrive in a collaborative team environment Driven, confident, and independent with a shared sense of responsibility and accountability Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, trade software, and other common computer programs Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) in dealing with peers, team and clients Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 5 - 10 years Bonus/Commission: No
