Ballard Spahr LLP has an exciting opportunity available in our Washington DC office for a Legal Administrative Assistant to assist lawyers in the Media and Entertainment Law Group. The ideal candidate is someone who is energetic, detail-oriented and works well both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment while managing a range of litigation and administrative tasks. The LAA will undertake a range of tasks and responsibilities that facilitate and coordinate the activities of the practice group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, editing and formatting pleadings and correspondences, scheduling depositions and hearings, trial preparation, calendaring (litigation and Outlook), scheduling travel, filings within the State and Federal courts, file organization (hard copy and electronic), time entry, billing and any other administrative tasks assigned.Required SkillsThe selected individual must possess strong administrative, time management, communication and diplomacy skills to handle administrative tasks with keen attention to detail. Successful candidates will have the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment while working in a team atmosphere.Required ExperienceFive years' litigation experience working with Partners and in media law highly preferred. College degree, a plus. Ability to organize multiple assignments and manage multiple priorities that often change with little notice. Excellent writing, technical, interpersonal and research skills are essential to be successful in this position. Candidates must have a proven track record of being able to multi-task, communicate effectively and meet deadlines. Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly with Word and Outlook. Prior time entry and billing experience, 3E preferred. Top-notch accuracy and organization skills required. Must be able to work overtime, when needed.
