Urban Grid, a utility scale renewable energy project developer, with over a decade of expertise in taking solar and energy storage projects through the full development process, from site acquisition through interconnection, permitting, offtake execution and project exit. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia-with teams located strategically throughout the United States-Urban Grid has provided utilities and corporate clients with reliable clean energy. We are actively developing a growing portfolio of over 12.7 GWDC solar PV and 3.7GWAC of co-located / stand-alone energy storage, throughout 12 states in support of America's transition to clean, sustainable power.We are looking for an exceptional Stakeholder Relations Manager to join our development team. The ideal candidate would bring passion and relevant experience in policy, government/community relations, and/or economic development, with specific experience coordinating directly with multiple project stakeholders, for our growing portfolio of projects.Primary Role: The Stakeholder Relations Manager will partner with cross-functional teams to execute project- specific stakeholder relations strategies in support of business and project success.Role & Responsibilities:Identify, establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders (community leaders and government officials) in local jurisdictions where Urban Grid is pursuing solar projects, working collaboratively with internal functions such as Development, Communications, and Site FindingDevelop and implement strategic project engagement plans that align with the company's brand positioning and support its development objectivesCoordinate in-person and virtual events, including community meetings, and oversee all event-related tasks, from planning to executionCreate and maintain accurate records of all contacts and interactions, ensuring maintenance of stakeholder trackingIdentify and communicate community/local sentiment, priorities, and concerns to the internal team, ensuring that Urban Grid's messaging is specifically tailored and relevant to the local communityIdentify and foster strategic partnerships within the local community, to support Urban Grid's brand and reputationManage memberships with local organizations, ie chambers of commerce, other non-profit organizations we may supportDevelop strategies to mobilize individuals and organizations to demonstrate support for our solar energy projectsManage external community engagement/public relations firms contracted to assist with grassroots marketing effortsWork with internal teams to develop targeted external communications such as information materials, talking points, presentations, displays, social media, and press releases to bolster local presenceMonitor social and traditional media, including local mediaOther duties as assignedTravel: Extensive travel to local project areas to build relationships with local leaders and community influencers is required. Up to 60% travel may be required. Requirements2 - 5+ years relevant experienceUndergraduate degree, preferably in external relations, business, communications or equivalentExperience in the renewable energy industry is preferred, but not requiredExperience working on political campaigns is preferred, but not requiredHands-on, hard-working team player who has a sense of ownership and is eager to support projects from a variety of anglesAbility to think creatively and innovativelyProficient at building relationships and influencing people must have excellent people skillsAbility to balance priorities in a fast-paced environmentComfort working cross-functionally and developing consensusExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience using social media platforms to engage targeted audiencesWillingness to learn and gain experience in local governmental processes, event planning, community organizing, and the renewable energy industryStrong personal commitment to renewable energy, business, and/or rural economic developmentComfortable working with people from different backgrounds, political affiliations, and regional culturesExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlinesProficient with MS Office Suite, Microsoft TeamsBenefitsUrban Grid offers an exciting benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, health savings account, flexible spending account, company-paid life insurance and short-term disability, voluntary life, and long-term disability, paid parental leave, and a retirement plan with matching.
