Certified Medical Assistant Private, Concierge, Internal Medicine practice - Quarry Lake, Baltimore We are recruiting a Medical Assistant to join a small team of one reputable Physician, board certified in Internal & Geriatric Medicine, front office receptionist/secretary & office manager.The Medical Assistant must have: Medical Assistant Certification.A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Medical Assistant in an Internal Medical or Family practice.Excellent phlebotomy skillsExperience & skills using an EMR (Athena a plus)Experience performing EKGs, injections & phlebotomy.Knowledge of pharmaceutical medications, e-prescribing & preauthorization experience.Aptitude & Skills in learning new procedures in the office.Experience scheduling patients & answering phone calls.Excellent references from previous employments.An up-to-date resume; andThe ability to pass a background inspection & drug screen prior to employment.Functions: Facilitate the efficient flow of patients. Maintain the tracking of patient activity, anticipating Physician's need for assistance.Assist patients with disrobing, dressing, positioning for procedure, ambulation & with wheelchairs, when necessary.Report observations & patient concerns to Physician.Perform procedures such as EKGs, venipunctures, injections, vital signs, heights, weights, BMI, open wound cleansings & dressings, suture & staple removals, throat cultures, diabetic teachings, basic vision testings, spirometries, audiometries, ABIs & cognitive assessments.Answer telephone calls & accurately retrieve messages.Follow up and document calls & messages; provide instructions to patients.Answer telephone calls & accurately retrieve messages; timely follow-up with each call & message & document each & instructions to patients.Accurately call, e-scribe, fax & document prescription orders & refills; Reconcile medication list & previous orders in patients' EMR prior to forwarding requests to Physician for authorization.Call patients with test results when instructed by Physician & document each call.Document procedures performed, results discussed, education & instructions given. Timely maintain patient & office records/flowsheets in proper sequence. Ensure that all documents are processed properly for scanning.Collect & process body fluid samples consistent with OSHA guidelines.Follow-up with patients on ordered tests, pre ops & plans after each visit. Timely fax reports for all scheduled pre-ops & other tests, as requested.Maintain the function of & cleanliness/disinfection of exam/procedure rooms & equipment between patients, consistent with OSHA guidelines. Maintain battery charge & maintenance of equipment as necessary.Handle hazardous wastes according to OSHA guidelines & universal precautions.Monitor & maintain inventory of medical & medication supplies. Monitor for expiration dates.Perform ABB proficiency tests & other assigned quality assurance tests.Team with front office staff with answering phone calls, taking off messages, returning calls, making appointment confirmations & handling incoming faxes.Always maintain confidentiality & security of patient information.Handle patient conflict in a diplomatic manner.Always maintain professionalism while expediting each patient visit.Communicate positively & effectively with team members, patients, families & visitors.
