Social Media Manager The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at George Mason University is seeking a Social Media Manager to join our team and work with us to keep our CHSS community engaged and informed, as we grow our social media followers. About the Position:The Social Media Manager promotes CHSS departments and programs by managing the CHSS social media presence to build our current and prospective student community, and drive engagement, applications, and registrations across our programs, as well as broadening the awareness of the value of the humanities and social sciences. By working closely with both the CHSS marketing team, and with the college department chairs and program staff, the Social Media Manager is responsible for organic social media, paid social media advertising, and the overall CHSS social strategy. Social media is a key communications channel for the college and the manager plays a key role in supporting our diversity, equity, and inclusion communications goals. Responsibilities:Work in collaboration with the marketing team, program staff, and external vendors, to create and implement social media marketing strategies and social media content, as well as paid digital ads, for CHSS undergraduate and graduate programs and the college overall;Assume management of college social media accounts including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and others. Translate college goals into social media plans and content calendars;Provide strategy, advice, and training to departmental social media managers to empower them to improve their social media content and results; andEnsure ongoing coverage of CHSS news, events, and initiatives by promoting on CHSS social media channels. Once campus events return, some time on campus to attend and photograph/video CHSS events, such as guest speakers and graduation, for social media posts is expected. Required Qualifications:MA in marketing, social media marketing, a liberal arts field (with strong social marketing experience), or equivalent combination of education and training/experience in marketing, communication, English, or related area;Demonstrated experience in a social media marketing or related position, or digital marketing; Experience creating original textual and visual content in a variety of formats and creating and managing a social media content calendar;Excellent communication and written skills; andDemonstrated project management and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in a social media marketing or related position, or digital marketing is preferred; Social media experience within an academic environment is preferred; Fluency in tools for social media content creation, such as Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, Canva, and video editing is a plus;Experience with social media management platforms, such as Hootsuite to schedule, manage and run reports is preferred; andExperience with social media advertising and knowledge of social media and digital tracking and reporting to create effective reports and recommendations on paid social campaign effectiveness and ROI is preferred.
