Financial AnalystThe George Mason University, College of Health & Human Services (CHHS), Office of the Dean, is launching a search for a Financial Analyst. More generally, the College aligns and supports Mason's mission and strategic initiatives as well. In addition, the Dean's Office is instrumental in promoting the College's brand and standing, and is advised by the College's advisory board. This includes initiatives undertaken in the College's Population Health Center and in community-based Mason and Partner Clinics.About the Position:The purpose of this position is to support the College's financial operation by overseeing the day-to-day expenditure activities across E&G, external/indirect, and Foundation funds, assisting with expenditure budgeting, position control, compliance, accounting and purchasing, non-personnel coordination, and creating necessary processes and procedures to ensure smooth operations. The incumbent is responsible for creating and providing expenditure analysis reports to manage the College's expenditures and aid decisions of investment/budget allocation.Responsibilities:The Financial Analyst will monitor departmental operating funds;Reconcile assigned departmental orgs/funds (also includes Market Place);Collect and review reconciliations from college's office managers on a monthly basis;Reconcile PCard transactions on a monthly basis;Monitor course fee revenue and expenses and provide monthly reports of available balances to supervisor and unit director/chairs;Monitor Graduate Assistantship Orgs to ensure that allotted allocations are not exceeded;Prepare reports bi-annually to the Provost Office regarding graduate expenditures (stipends and waivers);Monitor start-up funding balances, along with unit office managers, for tenured/tenure-track new faculty members;Process funding change forms, journal vouchers, budget reallocations, position maintenance forms and graduate assistant tuition stipends and waivers;Analyze department level data on enrollment and tuition;Identify, analyze and resolve budgetary issues using sound judgment and effective communication with supervisor;Independently develop MicroStrategy and MS Excel reports to analyze the College's financial activities, including E&G and faculty workloads on a routine basis;Provide budget forecasts for Education and General Funding;Serve as Telecom Coordinator to view bills for accuracy and to order phones as needed for faculty and staff; andComplete purchasing tasks for Dean's Suite.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, accounting or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience;Considerable experience (minimum of 3 years) with budget planning, forecasting, development of financial processes, and monitoring of revenue and expenditures;Experience with fiscal processes: purchase requisitions, account and department reconciliations, and journal vouchers and reallocations;Experience in creating financial reports and conducting financial analysis;Proficiency in Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint); andStrong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), customer service skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Mason Financial Systems (Banner, eVA and Microstrategy, Chrome River, Bank of America Works);Experience in handling confidential data; andExperience with a large, public, institution of higher education.
