Sr. Manager, Platform Risk Strategy

Risk Senior Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, risk management, project management, and communication skills. A successful Senior Risk Manager operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working, laws / regulations, processes and associated controls, and good risk management practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. Senior Risk Managers have a broad level of exposure across the lines of business and have the opportunity to work with the business to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within Enterprise Services. The demands and high-visibility nature of this position require an expert with a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and who can begin contributing immediately. This role works closely with senior leaders in Enterprise Services Risk and key stakeholders across the company to strategically approach Platform Risk Management.

We are looking for a hard-working candidate who loves diving into white space and is highly organized to work within ES Risk and across the Enterprise Platform Imperative to drive strategic planning efforts and workstream support. You will work directly with risk, product, and tech teams to identify scope and coordinate delivery as well as own communications to stakeholders around program status and requirements. Your job will include creating risk frameworks to guide and coordinate platform delivery across the full set of lifecycle processes of a platform.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and deliver senior level risk management reporting and communications
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve strategic objectives
  • Coordinate program-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups
  • Lead intent alignment conversations with risk, tech, and product stakeholders
  • Participate in risk and other management forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk and project / program management practices.
  • Support direction, manage expectations, and may support/lead cross-functional teams through various initiatives, including oversight of third party resources.
  • Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work, as applicable.
  • Coordinate internal resources, stakeholders, and dependencies for the flawless delivery of a sophisticated set of deliverables to market on time
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and dashboards

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
    • At least 6 years of experience in Risk Process or Project Management
    • At least 6 years of experience managing results through coordination with key stakeholders and internal business partners


  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 7+ years of experience in project or process management
    • 5+ years of experience in responding to and interacting with internal audit and/or regulatory agencies
    • Agile or Design Thinking experience
    • Experience working in the financial services industry
    • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools
    • Experience in controls development, controls management, and reporting activities
    • Strong relationship building skills, customer focus, and ability to collaborate and influence across teams to deliver
    • Strong communication skills, including an ability to effectively explain legal and compliance requirements to a non-legal audience
    • Ability to adapt to the changing circumstances of a fast-paced technology company and changing regulatory environment
