This position requires a very strong understanding of Ciena Solutions and customer applications. This SME will be responsible for customer presentations, written proposals, network designs, engineering and quotes as well as providing assistance to customers and other Ciena systems engineers performing technical tasks including development of test plans, lab proof of concepts, demos and software upgrades. Must be able to gather and understand solution requirements, work with internal organizations to develop strategies, solutions and technology options to present to customers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConsult with potential and current customers on application of Ciena solutions for next generation architecturesThoroughly engineer Ciena solutions for advanced customer applications across ATT networksServe as expert technical customer contact for advanced technical issues; be capable of addressing large majority of customer questionsManage customer requests and help coordinate technical sales activitiesLead in the preparation and delivery of presentations, designs, quotes and RFX responsesAssist Account Management with sales forecastsAssist in the development of pricing strategies and incentives to win businessAssist in assessment of potential product features, providing input on prioritizationAssist in tracking of product deliverables and communicating issues to other Ciena regional sales teamsLead network modernization discussions with customers with legacy infrastructureAssist in product acceptance test planning, coordination and test result reportingMake independent decisions on routine technical activities in accordance with company policy and procedures50% + travelPerforms other duties as assignedSKILLSIn depth knowledge of Data Networking, Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, IGP/BGP routing, Segment Routing, Route Optimization and Assurance, EVPN and other Adaptive IP network architecturesIn depth knowledge of 4G/5G wireless networking, xRAN, Flex-E, G.mtn and front/mid/backhaul network systemsWorking technical knowledge of fiber optic Coherent DWDM transmission systems (SONET/SDH, OTN, Amps, ROADMs), Packet Optical network architectures and network management.Familiarity with SDN, network virtualization as well as Public, Private and Edge cloudFamiliarity with automation, analytics and AI usage in networking operationsFamiliarity with test equipment (traffic generators, OSAs, OTDR, power meters, etc)Strong PC and Unixskills are required including general knowledge of computers, MS Office applications and Unix operating environment.
