Crystal Management is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business.Position SummaryThe Load Balancer Engineer will oversee, support, and coordinate network policy, configuration, and troubleshooting in support of the enterprise F5 Load Balancers. This role is a technical role with high visibility and is expected to interface with executive leadership and supported tenants. Primary duties include supporting the load balancing network and application requirements, collaborating with government and third-party stakeholders, coordinating with internal support teams, and reporting status to technical management and leadership.ResponsibilitiesProvide architecture/engineering expertise for new load balancer implementations, cloud environment integrations, project designs, and standards development, as well as onboarding new tenantsProvide load balancing administration/support for intelligent DNS routing between enterprise locations/data centers, as well as plan and implement upgrades (includes installation of new equipment)Implement approved authentication and certificate management controlsUse caching (static HTML content) for the enterprise infrastructure environment (hardware, software, and configuration components) and support tenantsSupport deployment optionsConfigure self IPs, port lockdown, and network routesConfigure remote logging to SplunkAdhere to change management processes and proceduresTroubleshoot, configure, upgrade, maintain, and monitor the load balancer network architecture (performance, configurations, traffic flow, application monitoring, CPU capacity/utilization)Analyze network alarms and identify sourcesCoordinate with on-site support personnel while troubleshootingUse enterprise service management tools to initiate, respond, and track service requestsCreate reports and analyze performance metricsDevelop processes/procedures and related engineering documentation for troubleshooting and quickly identifying issuesPerform reach back to OEM Vendors to de-conflict operational issues with known operating system bugs and security alertsPartner with the information security personnel to assess potential exposure to vulnerabilities, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines and standardsEvaluate modern technologies to optimize network efficiency and review/provide recommendations to improve the load balancing solutionInform management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issuesBe responsive and decisive on adjusting architecture as customer requirements and technology evolvesParticipate in special projects as required.Education/Certification RequirementsBachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (eg, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP)Required Qualifications8+ years of directly related experienceExperience with F5 load balancers to include troubleshooting, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and monitoring an enterprise F5 load balancer network architecture (F5 Network certification a plus)Technical support experience and advanced proficiency with F5 Load Balancers, protocols, design, configuration, and support of data center and campus network infrastructure related to load balancing solutions.In-depth knowledge of hardware platforms including engineering design and deployment implementation guidelines.Possess flexibility to operate in a highly dynamic environment while ensuring a high level of operational effectivenessDetail-oriented with the ability to work well in a team environmentBroad understanding of network infrastructure topologies, security policies, firewalls, and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructureIn-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environmentExperience using network management and analysis tools such as SNMP probes, network taps, and traffic analyzersExperience with Network Management & Performance platforms, such as NetScout, IBM Netcool, Solarwinds NMS products, NetBrain, Infovista, Cisco Prime, Junos SpaceFunctional understanding of a diverse set of networked applications and terms requiring application traffic management solutions, including HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, FTP, DNS, NTP, NAT, and othersExperience building configurations using CLIExperience with network security, including firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediationExperience creating & updating network topologies using VisioCreating and documenting processes and creating work instructionsExperience working as a part of a large team and working directly with customersExcellent hardware troubleshooting experience.Experience with supporting teleworkers and remote access technologiesExperience creating scripts to automate routine administration CCNA/CCNP, or higher CISCO certification preferredExperience with Infoblox IP Address Management (IPAM) and DHCP AdministrationExperience utilizing Remedy ITSMExperience administering and troubleshooting server operating systems such as Linux, Windows, or UNIXExperience with LDAP/PKI preferredClearance RequirementsActive Secret security clearance.
