The Production Associate assists in various production related tasks generally at ARTECHOUSE's Washington, DC venue to help maintain, operate, administer and prepare for upcoming exhibits. In this role you will address technical, cosmetic, and facilities notes, to deliver a high quality experience for our visitors. In addition this role will be a part of a larger ARTECHOUSE team that works together to promote ARTECHOUSE locally and internationally. Who You Are 3+ years direct work experience in a professional production environment that involves physical installation of AV and other various tech equipment. Good understanding of how AV equipment, media software, and computers works, including the basics of computer science. Experience with general carpentry is a plus. Experience with rigging and mounting various weights is a plus. Have a basic understanding of each production phase that includes multimedia technology, software design, spatial design, fabrication, logistics, and onsite installation involving a specialized crew. A clear and organized communicator who can give and take directions well. Hands on problem solver who demonstrates continuous efforts to improve their work. Core Responsibilities Assist in ensuring the technical startup and shutdown procedures of the exhibits are solid and smooth. Assist the staff in understanding and executing daily operational procedures as delineated by the Operations Team. Support the Operations Team with troubleshooting and reach out to the necessary point person for further support as needed. Troubleshooting and solving technology and technical based challenges. Support production-based notes for the current exhibit (carpentry, lighting, sound, or projection notes). Keep production inventory up to date and organized. Assist in preparing strike/installation documents, and schedule for the crew. Help maintain logs and records including but not limited to: troubleshooting, maintenance, inventory, crew list, et cetera. Assist with records and accounting budgets related to technical maintenance. Follow existing processes and contribute in refining and improving them. Assist in sourcing the appropriate specialized help as required by the work needed. CORE QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE Related industry experience in Touring, Theatre, Entertainment, or Museum Strong written and verbal communication skills, including good comfort level with spreadsheets. Thrives in a fast-paced and cross-functional team, and understands how to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Creative and solution-oriented-analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities. Strong team player and ability to work with people of many different backgrounds and perspectives. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Comfortable moving and working on ladders. Must be able to operate a scissor lift or have experience with it to be trained to operate alone. Must be comfortable safely lifting at least 40pounds and team-lifting large objects. Who We Are We are a growing team of creatives and innovators who dream big.
