We prize diversity of thought and expertise within our team-and we're always looking for amazing people to help us do and be more.About the role:As the Senior Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and manage the receipt of brokerage commissions so that revenue is properly recorded. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist with vendor invoice posting to Bill.com, prepare and maintain supporting schedules for assigned balance sheet accounts, and determine adjusting journal entries affecting these accounts for month-end close. A successful candidate has strong organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and is able to communicate in a clear manner.You will: Assist with year-end audits and other special accounting projects as the company grows.Review incoming cash receipts (checks and electronic payments) and prepare for posting.Identify the most efficient way to retrieve insurance carrier commission statements to ensure revenue posting in the correct month.Research unidentified cash receipts and utilize creative thinking to determine the best course of action for proper handling and accounting for these items.Assist with ASC 606 revenue recognition procedures for new and existing insurance carrier contracts.Follow up on exceptions and discrepancies between expected vs. actual commissions receipts. Collaborate with other internal teams and/or insurance carriers to resolve these issues.Reconcile weekly and monthly the unposted commission receipt activity to the general ledger.Enter vendor invoices into Bill.com for approvals and payment processing.Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and monthly adjusting entries for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued expenses.RequirementsExperience in an insurance carrier or brokerage environment a plusExperience with external audit required 2-3+ years of progressive public or industry accounting experienceRequired Bachelor's degree in the areas of Accounting or FinanceProfessional experience with Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, noPowerPoint) and experience with comparable Google Suite applicationsQuickbooks OnlineBill.com a plusExperience with Zywave Brokerage Builder a plusStartup experience a plusDemonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workBenefitsWe believe in comprehensive benefits and perks that provide total wellness solutions.
