The end client is unable to sponsor or transfer visas for this position; all parties authorized to work in the US without sponsorship are encouraged to apply.An American Company is seeking a Research Associate II, Formulation Development in Gaithersburg, MD.Role DescriptionResearch Associate II/III role of the Formulation Development Department. This position will be a laboratory-based with tremendous learning potential in the area of drug formulation development. The Research Associate II/III will report to the Formulation Development Team Lead Senior Scientist into the Process Development Department and work in a cross-functional team environment.* Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks in accordance with company policy.* Keeps accurate testing records and assures that laboratory equipment has been calibrated, standardized, and monitored as appropriate.* Prepares and aligns goals with manager's goals.* Plans time to accomplish tasks.* Conducts experiments according to plan.* Knowledge of analytical instrumentation and methods.* Analytical methods include but no-limited to: UV Spectroscopy, RP-HPLC, uBCA, CBQCA, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Native-PAGE Gel, WB, Agarose Gel, Capillary Electrophoresis, Densitometer, Osmometer, Turbidimeter, DSC, UNcle, TFF.* Follow SOP to test in-process samples including but no-limited to SDS-PAGE, Native-PAGE Gel, Agarose, Densitometry, Western Blot, uBCA, CBQCA, Octet BLI and ELISA to support process development and stability studies of nanoparticle vaccines.* Assist in the maintenance of the lab including routine housekeeping activities, organize ordered lab supplies/raw materials and literature survey.* Carry out formulation development experiments as planned and assist on interpret data/results.* Assist in maintaining a high-quality laboratory inventory, environment and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities.* Additional lab projects and assignments as required.* Assist project scientists in activities supporting the development of new and current drug formulations.* Performs washing and decontamination of glassware and distributing to appropriate locations within the laboratories.* Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.* Understands and consistently follows documented procedures.Skills & Requirements* BA/BS in Bio/Chem Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Medical Doctor, Medical Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, Vaccine Development, or related field of study with three or more years of experience, or MS degree and 2 or more years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies* Strong work ethics, respectful, and high-level of motivation are required.* Previous experience with formulation development activities in a professional or academic laboratory setting is a preferred.* Detail oriented with the ability to accept and follow instruction, and execute stepwise work plans in a reproducible manner.* Enthusiastic learner who will eventually operate various instruments used in formulation research as required.* Experienced with basic mathematical calculations required to prepare solutions and samples and perform data analysis.* Flexibility, ability and commitment to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting expected deadlines; willing to take initiative in pursuit of project and team goals.* Effective oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.* Proficient in Window based software to include Excel, Word, and Access. Ability to adapt to changing software programs.* Experienced with EHS guidelines in a laboratory environment.* Excellent record keeping abilities to adequately record, analyze, and document analytical data generated in support of regulatory requirements.* Understanding GMP requirements and other FDA regulatory requirements associated with analytical testing of vaccine products.* Ability to function in a timeline-driven, dynamic environment, and to adapt to new techniques and protocols.Why Hays?You will be working with a professional recruiter who has intimate knowledge of the Information Technology industry and market trends .
