Duties

  • As Chief, Personnel Service Center (PSC), provides personnel services to Army School of Music service members and performs military human resource administrative support, management functions, and personnel services.
  • Oversees using the Army Records Information Management System and is responsible for maintenance of reference publications, correspondence files and automated records and reports relative to separation, transfer, awards and decorations, etc.
  • Ensures awards and decorations are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with DA regulations and local policies.
  • Coordinates promotion boards and ensures that these boards are held in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Oversees military personnel functions and systems such as Promotions, Evaluations and Military Personnel Information/Databases and the Total Officer Personnel Management Information System.
  • Supervises and assists PSC personnel in preparing military orders and documentation for all incoming and outgoing Active Duty and Reserve Soldiers assigned or attached.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:(1) managing personnel, administrative, and career development actions; (2) initiating and tracking personnel actions; (3) assisting with personnel programs such as awards, retirements, flagging actions, etc.; AND (4) maintaining personnel records and automated personnel databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.
