Duties

As the Protection Services Specialist, you will:
  • Develops, supervises, conducts and schedules security and law enforcement training programs for the Office of Protection Services(AOP) and security awareness and other security related topics to all National Gallery of Art employees when needed.
  • Coordinates work and training within the National Gallery of Art as well as outside agencies, as required.
  • Conducts studies and surveys to determine the need for developing new or updating current training programs for Office of Protection Services and National Gallery of Art staff.
  • Responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of all training in the area of security (line and management), safety, emergency and disaster response procedures, police authority, law enforcement and CPR/AED/first aid. Serves as instructor for programs or portions of programs for training protection officers, supervisors, contractors, and other National Gallery of Art staff as needed.
  • Works closely with AOP staff in developing on -the-job training programs for protection officers.
  • Conducts continuing follow-up on adequacy and effectiveness of OJT activities.
  • Ability to operate from an instructor's perspective, to recognize, develop and present information relating to all areas of physical security in oral or written lessons plans.
  • Establishes the annual training schedule for programs conducted by AOP, including first aid, AED and CPR for National Gallery of Art staff as well as the various programs for Office of Protection Services.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-301-12.

Specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, serving as an educator with specialized knowledge in course development and classroom training in law enforcement for an organization.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
