Duties

  • You will serve as the Cyber Operations Manager in the Cyber Security Division serving as the principle staff advisor to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on all matters relating to vulnerabilities and threats.
  • You will service as Cyber Operations Member and Service as a subject-matter-expert (SME) providing guidance for the development of long and short term plans and policies as it relates to Computer Network Defense (CND).
  • You will coordinate technical vulnerability testing and network assessments with the Cyber Security Directorate for computer incident notifications with focus on prevention and protection from computer intrusions and countermeasures actions.
  • You will provide specific guidance to infrastructure personnel exposures and remediation requirements as it relate to Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM).
  • You will perform project management activities through all phase of the project lifecycle (initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing).
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.

  • You may be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.


Qualifications

For all Information Technology position applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

1. CYBERSECURITY-Protect and defend information and information systems in order to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. (AKA Information Assurance)
2. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CUSTOMER SUPPORT-Provide functional and/or technical support to customers to ensure validation of requirements and delivery of Information Technology capabilities.
3. ORAL COMMUNICATION-Demonstrates ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.
4. PROBLEM SOLVING-Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; seeks/generates and evaluates alternative perspectives/solutions; makes timely/effective recommendations, based on potential implications of findings or conclusions. Critically evaluates to identify the causes of problems, and chooses courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

(1) Experience and knowledge of establishing and implementing a system for issuing, protecting, and changing system passwords, performing security audits and creating documentation and remediation plans.

(2) Experience and knowledge of monitoring network operational performance, CND activities and systems, and exercises appropriate action to correct operational deficiencies.

(3) Experience and knowledge developing project charters, scope, management plan, work breakdown structure, deliverables, communications plan, risk mitigation, and activity schedule to facilitate project execution from start-to-finish ensuring correlation with customers, stakeholders and organizational goals.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc situational tele-work at the discretion of management.
